Please-waiting is a verb. I coined the term a few years ago while reinstalling Windows and my other software on my computer at work. Someone had called my desk to ask me to look up something for them.
"I'm sorry, I can't right now, I'm please-waiting. Call me in an hour or so."
Earlier today, I was playing with Windows 7's new Super Bar, which is far from finished in the build I'm running.
The way I had it configured at the time, it showed the progress of a massive file move I was doing in the taskbar item. I liked it. However, I'm not sure if this is going to work the same way now that I've reconfigured the taskbar items to be smaller or in the finished product, but I hope it does.
In fact, I was so excited that I showed it to the wife. She, however, was not very amused by it. But, she did enjoy the please-waiting story and suggested I make a comic about it.
On a related note, I was also pretty amused by the Aero Shake feature. If you grab the title bar of a window and shake it vigorously, all the other windows will minimize. I laughed so hard she yelled from the next room to ask what was so funny. She was at least amused by this one.
In case anyone is wondering, I really like what I've seen so far of Windows 7. And since the key I have from the Vista Beta works on it, I'm using it full time now instead of Vista.
My only real disappointment so far is that Google Chrome doesn't work yet. Until they get that fixed, I'll just have to stick with Firefox.
Update: You can see it working in the screenshot below. Look at the bright green behind the icon. That's the progress indicator.
